Nokia Launches Nokia G42 5G, an Affordable 5G Smartphone in India

Nokia is introducing its latest smartphone in the G series, the Nokia G42 5G. This device is designed to be budget-friendly and follows the release of the Nokia G60 5G, which is also constructed using recycled materials. The standout features of this smartphone include 5G connectivity, water resistance, the latest Android OS, Virtual RAM, and extended battery life, among others. The Nokia G42 5G boasts a lightweight plastic body, weighing 193.8g, and is equipped with an IP52 rating. The front side of the display is protected by Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3, adding to the smartphone’s appeal. The fingerprint sensor is conveniently integrated into the power button for enhanced security.

This smartphone sports a 6.56-inch IPS display with an HD+ resolution of 720×1612 pixels, offering 400 nits of brightness. Additionally, it features a 90Hz refresh rate display and is presented in a 20:9 aspect ratio.

On the camera front, the Nokia G42 5G is equipped with a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP main camera, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro camera. For selfies, there’s an 8MP front-facing camera. The camera supports 1080p video recording and comes with features like Night mode, Dark Vision, Tripod mode, and AI portrait mode, enhancing both video and photo quality.

In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax-ready. For navigation, it includes GPS/AGPS, GLONASS, BDS, and Galileo. Additionally, it retains the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Nokia G42 5G is equipped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also supports up to a 1TB MicroSD card to expand external storage. The company claims that the RAM can be extended to 11GB with virtual RAM. Under the hood, it features the Snapdragon® 480 + 5G chipset, which houses an octa-core CPU processor clocked at up to 2.2GHz and an Adreno 619 GPU, ensuring smooth daily usage.

Operating on Android 13, the smartphone comes with a promise of 2 years of updates. It also features OZO audio technology to enhance audio recording using its microphone and speaker.

Powering the device is a 5000mAh battery, coupled with 20W fast charging, delivering up to 3 days of battery life. Charging is done through a convenient USB Type-C port.

Price and Availability

The Nokia G42 5G is priced at Rs 20,000 in India. It will be available for purchase starting from September 2023 on Amazon and the official Nokia website. The device is offered in two color options: grey and purple.
